Trauma is a psychological and emotional response to an event or series of events that an individual finds deeply distressing or life-threatening. These experiences, which can range from a single incident such as a motor vehicle accident to ongoing challenges like systemic oppression or abuse, can overwhelm the individual’s sense of safety and capacity to cope. It is a highly individualized experience; two people can go through the same event and experience trauma differently.
Healing from trauma is not about erasing the past; it is about integrating the experience so it no longer dictates the present, allowing one to move from enduring to thriving. We centre on a holistic approach by acknowledging that for many of our clients, trauma is often intertwined with experiences of systemic oppression. We walk alongside you to collaboratively and safely explore the impact of trauma, supporting you to cultivate your innate agency and strengths to co-create a life where safety, connection, and full self-expression are possible.
